IRONMAN 2011

Every year we get the opportunity to meet a group of dedicated, hardworking and, quite frankly, insane bunch of people who participate in the annual Iron Man event held here in Port Elizabeth. This is a really gruelling event and the people that participate achieve a tremendous sense of self attainment by the sheer completion of the event. The event begins at 07h00 in the morning and they have 17 hours to complete the following events – all within specific time frames. They start off with a 3,8km swim around the pier. From there, they get onto their bikes and pedal 180km around some of the finer scenery found in PE (in blazing heat mind you). They then top it off with a, by this time, very agonising 42km run!

This year was no exception, and we are proud to present our Iron Man guests who stayed with us this year. You people, lady and men, all did yourselves proud.

They all have allowed us to show their times and we have taken pictures of everybody to remind us all what a great group of people we had here for this event
